UnderStory is invitation-only — but the door is never fully closed. If something is brewing in you, here's how it works.

UnderStory launches by invitation. That isn’t gatekeeping for its own sake — it’s the editorial method. Every voice is chosen deliberately, so the archive holds together as a conversation rather than a feed. The bar is depth and wisdom, not credentials. Fame is optional; substance is not.

As the archive grows, applications open. Until then, this page is the door left open: if you read the index and think I have the missing piece, tell us.

What a contribution looks like

A topic
Climate & nature, Power & the commons, or Meaning & connection.
A reflection type
Misconception, Recommendation, or Radical vision.
2,500 characters or less
Prose, poetry, or a diagram. The constraint is the point.
One image, optional
A cartoon, a chart, a photograph — something chosen, not decorative.
A two-line bio
Who you are, in your own words. Published as written.
Three books
Three you'd press into a stranger's hands. They travel with your piece.

We publish with no editorial interference. What you send, edited only by you, is what appears.

The questions, again

Each piece answers one prompt, paired from the two axes above. A few that recur:

What do most people get dangerously wrong about our relationship with the natural world? If you could change one policy to value the commons, what would it be and why? It’s 2045. Something has shifted in how humans relate to each other and to themselves. What changed?
